Welcome to Year 6B!
We are excited to welcome you to your final year at primary school! Year 6 is a special year filled with new challenges, opportunities, and memories to treasure as you prepare for your next adventure in secondary school.
The class teacher is Mrs Beaton, who is looking forward to guiding and supporting you through an exciting year of learning and growth. Together, we will explore a wide range of topics, take on responsibilities as leaders of the school, and enjoy many fun activities along the way.
This year is all about working hard, building confidence , and celebrating achievements big and small.
Here are some of the highlights to look forward to in Year 6:
- Learning and Achievement – We’ll build on everything you’ve learned so far, developing independence and resilience in maths, English, science, and a wide range of topics.
- Responsibilities – As the oldest pupils in the school, Year 6 take on leadership roles, setting an example for younger children and helping our school community.
- Memorable Experiences – From special projects and enrichment activities to trips and events, there will be plenty of chances to make long lasting memories with classmates.
- SATs and Moving On – We’ll work together to prepare for SATs with confidence, while also getting ready for the exciting step into secondary school.
With hard work and teamwork, Year 6 promises to be a fantastic year!

Jasper
In Year 6, we have our own loving, calming influence to improve self-esteem and reduce anxiety – he comes in the form of Jasper, one of our cherished therapy dogs. He works in our school as part of the ongoing provision for well-being and positive mental health. The benefits of therapy dogs include the ability to contribute to the creation of a positive classroom mood. This certainly rings true with our experience of Jaspers influence – he helps children to feel and stay calm simply by being present. He also teaches pupils responsibility and empathy.
Pupils in Year 6 are taught to give him the essentials which he needs to live a happy and fulfilled life, for example giving him food and water, walking him, playing with him, and loving him. His unconditional love gives each child in class an immeasurable amount of support and self-worth.
Jasper is a cockerpoo and this breed has low allergy and non-shedding qualities.
